Exotic photography is an out of the ordinary experience.
Sometimes people in a business field forget others may not be familiar with the jargon. As a boudoir photographer, I can’t even remember calling the genre by another term.
The first time I heard the phrase: exotic photography, I thought, “what does that even mean?”
So I looked it up. Exotic meant:
Attractive or striking because colorful or out of the ordinary.
Of a kind not used for ordinary purposes or not ordinarily encountered.
Those definitions do fit boudoir. Boudoir photographs are by nature attractive. They celebrate the beautiful, sensual and sexy side of the client. Sometimes the images are colorful, and they are definitely not ordinary.
Unlike other forms of photography, boudoir photos are not used for ordinary purposes.
Some clients give them as gifts, but just as many give them as a gift to themselves. A boudoir shoot helps a client fall in love with themselves again. It empowers them, giving them a sense of confidence in their looks and desirability.
A client searching for this type of photography may not know what they are looking for. After all, the word boudoir isn’t at the top of most people’s minds.
So it makes sense they would go to Google, Bing, or Yahoo! and type in: exotic photography, or erotic photography, or lingerie photoshoot, or sexy photography, or even intimate photography.
And on a good day, the search engine is going respond with a listing of boudoir photographers in their area.
To make it simple, if you are looking for amazing intimate photos that celebrate you – you are in the right place. If you want beautiful photographs of you to give to your significant other – again, right place.
If you have body issues and want to connect with your inner diva again – right place.
