Boudoir Makeup Styles That Pop In Photos

A boudoir photoshoot is the time to express your individual style and fall in love with yourself all over again. Part of what makes you unique is everything you love, including your boudoir makeup styles.

You don’t want to look like a different person in your boudoir photos. So this is not the time to experiment with a look that you aren’t sure of. Still, getting a little bit of glam can definitely add to the fun of the shoot.

It is important to realize that makeup looks different in real life than it does in photographs. The camera catches light bouncing off your makeup, changing the way it looks.

Because we want you to look as spectacular in your photos as you do in real life, our studio has an in-house boudoir makeup artist. Our team is very well versed in creating different makeup styles to help you rock your shoot!

Some of the most popular looks for boudoir at my Westminster, Maryland Boudoir Studio are:

The Natural Babe – A Look Of Innocence

If you like the look of a natural beauty, we’ve got you covered! Dewey, glowing skin with a pink or neutral lip always looks good. The ‘no makeup’ look actually does require makeup to look fabulous in your photos though.

Soft tones that enhance your complexion, a light powder foundation and maybe a bit of cheek color starts your transformation. A muted shadow over your eyelid, along with a natural false lash will help open your eyes for the camera lens.

The Glamour Look – Full Of Seduction

Channel yesteryear’s Hollywood glamor with this seductive makeup style. Unleash your inner vixen and prepare to make eyes pop when they see your photos!

There are a couple of ways to get you glammed. For this makeup style you usually choose one focal point, either the eyes or the lips. If you go for a smokey eye, you would use a lighter lip. Want bright red lips? Go with a more neutral eye. Of course, lashes are a must!

Rules can be broken. There are several types of Glamour looks besides the Hollywood style:

diva glam

The Diva Glam is a modern look with a retro twist to it. Dark smokey eyes, a classic red lip and wavy hair calls to mind the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Patti LaBelle.

Rock & Roll Glam takes you back a bit further to the likes of Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett. Smokey eyes rimmed with a cat-eye and a soft lip that doesn’t pull attention makes this style. With the right hair styling, you’ll be ready to rock your boudoir session!

90’s Inspired Makeup

The 90’s were a time supermodels strutted the runway and became famous celebrities. Think Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Dark lips and earth-tone makeup looks ruled the decade. At my studio, a boudoir photoshoot makes you feel like a supermodel, so why not look like one!

The Pin Up

Looking for a vintage vibe? Become a retro woman and star in your very own Pin Up series. This style of makeup requires defined brows a couple of shades darker than your usual. Your eyes stay neutral, emphasized with a natural tone, and of course, our makeup artist adds the perfect cat-eye. Finish it off with a red lip and you are ready for your closeup!
