You’ve been thinking about a photoshoot, but when is the best time to book your boudoir session? The simple answer is now! But for those who aren’t sure, let’s break things down so you know what to expect.

Why you should book a boudoir session?

My studio sees clients of all ages (over 18) and for a wide range of reasons. Some celebrate:

  • themself,
  • their achievements,
  • weight loss,
  • a birthday milestone,
  • engagement,
  • wedding,
  • anniversary,
  • pregnancy,
  • divorce,
  • a new job,
  • a new relationship, or
  • a new phase of their life.

Others see us because they:

  • reached a fitness goal,
  • want to document their body before a mastectomy or pregnancy,
  • want to reclaim their confidence following a mastectomy,
  • want to document changes from plastic surgery or enhancements,
  • want to regain their confidence,
  • need this as a step on their body-positivity journey,
  • want to create a gift for their partner for Valentine’s or Christmas,
  • want to do a sexy cosplay or Halloween photoshoot

and the list goes on …

Boudoir that tells a story

How far in advance should you book a boudoir photoshoot?

If you want your photos in time for gift giving or another special reason, I recommend booking your photoshoot 8-10 weeks prior to your date.

Why so long? I limit the number of clients I see every month so that each one gets my undivided attention. Before your photo reveal, your images undergo a magazine quality retouch. This is so they not only print beautifully, but also would look amazing as gallery quality wall art.

Preparing your images for the reveal and ordering session generally takes about two weeks. Following your ordering session, I ask you to allow 6-8 weeks for your albums, wall art or images to arrive from our lab.

While it doesn’t always take that long, I prefer being safe than sorry.

Quality takes time and I want to make sure your order is perfect.

Plan early

Most boudoir studios book sessions well in advance and may have a waiting list. Occasionally they will have a date available, but professional boudoir photographers aren’t like walking into a JC Penney photo studio. You will want to contact them in advance to set up your appointment.

Last minute decision?

It happens. While it may be impossible to get your photos ready in time if you wait too long, there are other options. My studio has a sneak peek photo option available to whet the appetite until your products can be delivered.

Budgeting …

Most photographers will not order products until they are paid in full. If you need to budget, check to see if your photographer offers advance payment options. This way, your order is covered prior to the ordering session.
