Things to consider before you hire amateur boudoir photographers
Hi, I’m Thomas Crowl, a boudoir photographer with a studio based in Westminster, Maryland. Today, I want to talk to you about a trend that I’ve seen happening in the boudoir photography market lately. There have been a lot of amateur boudoir photographers getting into the field. The reason for that, it’s been very popular on YouTube. There are a couple of very respected boudoir photographers who who are showing off their work, who are talking about what they do, and it’s encouraging these amateurs to take up the camera.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with that. If someone tells you they are an amateur, then the question would be, do I want to chance my images with them or are they going to be able to do me justice or are they going to be safe? What kind of references do they have?
These are things that I see happening. And the reason I stress is part of my business is shooting models, which I do for their social media content, for their portfolios. And I’ve heard a lot of horror stories where a photographer will be totally inappropriate with a model. And often you’re in the situation where it’s just you and the photographer. And if that’s the case, you want to make sure that you trust and you know and that the photographer has a reputation to uphold so that, you know you’re safe.
So if you’re thinking about boudoir photography, I’m not going to put down anyone who is just getting into the business. But please do your homework.
