Self Care Tips To Help You Feel Better:

1. Eat A Healthy Diet

When you are a busy woman, it can be difficult to eat healthy. If you are grabbing fast food or unhealthy snacks because they are convenient you need to make a conscious decision to change.

While it is okay to treat yourself to those occasionally, most busy women just don’t have the time to prepare a healthy meal. But it is important to have a balanced diet that provides your body with the proper fuel and nutrients.

2. Exercise On A Regular Schedule

Exercise is a habit, unfortunately it is a habit that is too easy to break. Especially when you have a lot going on.

But moving your body every day helps keep it in shape. And if you haven’t gotten there yet, you’ll soon learn not moving makes it painful to move!

Exercise helps reduce stress and anxiety, plus it helps you lose a few pounds. Turn on some music as you work out to boost your mood and make it more fun. I often find when I don’t want to take my daily walk, if I make myself head out the door, I soon realize how much I enjoy it! Hopefully the same will be true for you.

3. Schedule Your Doctor Visits

One of the best things you can do to care for yourself is to visit your doctor for health screenings. In addition to an annual physical, be sure to keep up with your mammograms and colonoscopies.

If you take medications, be sure to follow your doctor’s advice. Medications work best when taken on a regular schedule. Don’t skip doses.

4. Get Your Rest

When you are busy, it can be hard to get enough quality sleep. Most experts say you should try to get 7 – 8 hours a night. Granted, some people have different metabolisms, but that is a pretty good rule of thumb.

When you are tired, it can be tough to do your best. Lack of sleep is physically and mentally draining, which can affect your mood.

It can be tempting to binge watch one more episode of your favorite show on Netflix, but put that off for another day. Staying on a schedule for waking up and going to bed helps you get the rest you need and be more productive.

5. Realize You Can’t Do Everything

This can be the hardest self-care tip for women. You can’t do it all, so don’t try. Learn to say no if your plate is full. You deserve to take a day off, or go on a vacation to get away from the stress. Trying to do everything leaves you completely drained, so prioritize and pace yourself.

Self-Care Tips To Help You Mentally Relax & Rejuvenate:

6. Acknowledge Your Stress Valve

People escape from stress in different ways. Maybe you enjoy turning on some music and dancing. Some people go out and take long walks. Others garden, and many watch their favorite television shows or a movie.

Whatever your method of releasing stress, be sure to schedule some time for that each day. And while you are doing it, turn off that inner voice that says you are wasting time and should be doing something else. Releasing stress is very important to your self-care.

7. Spend Time With Family & Friends

Socializing is another important part of any self-care routine. Don’t allow the stress of daily life to isolate you from important relationships. Always make some time in your busy schedule to take a break to connect with those close to you. Human companionship is a must for your mental health.

8. Take Yourself On A Date

Spending time with yourself may seem strange to some, but it can be very therapeutic. Take yourself out to a nice dinner and a movie. Go to a concert, or go visit some place different and new to you. That is more than self-care, it is showing self-love!

9. Declutter And Clean

A dirty, cluttered environment can add to stress levels. Set aside some time to clean and sort through things to determine what you no longer need.

Cleaning helps remove a to do list of items from your plate. It can be am emotionally freeing experience.

Getting rid of un-needed items is another amazing feeling. Instead of stuff piled everywhere, your space looks neater and you know where things are. When I had to clean out my parent’s house, I realized there was no way I wanted my son to have to experience the amount of work I went through.

A good rule of thumb for me is, if I haven’t seen or touched it in a year – it goes. Give things to those who may use them or donate items to charity and take the write-off. Either way, you have done a good deed and get the positive benefits of both.

10. Invest In Yourself

There are several ways you can invest in yourself. Meditation helps you reflect and unwind, helps you get past hurt feelings and become more compassionate.

Ever want to learn something? Set aside the time to learn a new skill or hobby that has always peaked your interest. Start a new business, write a book, give yourself a chance to explore your creative side.

As a busy woman, you may be thinking to yourself, these are great self-care tips, but I just don’t have the time to do this. Remember that your health allows you to get everything else in your life accomplished. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of everything else for long.
