“I found you online while searching for a boudoir photographer. When I looked at your website, I didn’t see any boudoir. Do you shoot boudoir?”
The woman’s question kind of floored me for a second. “Are you looking at ThomasBoudoir.com?,” I asked.
“Yes,” she said. “I see a lot of lingerie photos but not any boudoir.”
There are different styles of boudoir. Some boudoir photos are very modest, others are very erotic, but they all fall within the boudoir genre. I explained this to her and she quickly understood.
“So you do shoot nudes?,” she asked me. “I just didn’t see any in your portfolio.”
I have posted some fine art nude boudoir photos and some nude bodyscape images, but for the most part, no. I actually censor when I do have nudity in an online photo.
I’ve been around long enough to know that there are guys who just want to look at nude women. But I’m not in business to provide wank fodder to men. I’m here to help women through a vulnerable time so they can recover their confidence and fall in love with themselves again.
I’d rather have 100 women who are looking for a way to accept themselves follow me, than 10,000 guys who want to see a nude.
I assured the woman that yes, I do shoot nudes and if she wanted to swing by the studio, I could show her some work that clients have given me permission to share. She took me up on the offer and after seeing the images booked a shoot date for her own session.
To this client, and many others, boudoir means nude. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I want a woman to feel comfortable and sexy. If she feels sexy in a parka, I’ll figure out a way to capture it!
You don’t have to wear lingerie for a boudoir photoshoot. You don’t have to pose nude. You just have to be willing to take the chance to feel beautiful again, and I will show you that you were beautiful the entire time!
